This Week In Workout Playlists: June 7, 2011

Trying to keep the energy up this week with some 90’s alternative and dance hits, tossed lightly with 2000’s alternative jams. Not everything is genre specific, however. According to my iPod, here is what carried through some intense cardio and legs yesterday:

As you can gather from the music, very interesting workout yesterday.  Will make some adjustments and regroup for tonight’s workout. As always, you can follow my bodybuilding progress at my BodyBuilding.com profile. Over 45 lbs. lost and kept off since January 2010!

What I’m Jamming To: May 19, 2011

One of my all time favorites from The Faces featuring Rod Stewart, more so for Stewart’s voice and incredible footballer’s hairdo and Ronnie Wood‘s guitar than the content of the lyrics. The Faces were formed in the summer of 1969 when Stewart and Wood replaced Small Faces’ vocalist Steve Marriott, joining existing members bassist Ronnie Lane, keyboarder Ian McLagan, and drummer Kenney Jones. According to McLagan, the group dropped “Small” from their name because Stewart and Wood, at 5’9 and 5’8, were taller than Marriott and the remaining members.

Lane, known in the group as Plonk and Three-Piece, left the group in 1973 to form Slim Chance, McLagan went on to be an incredibly successful session musician for acts such as Chuck Berry, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen, Jones was the immediate replacement for Keith Moon in the Who, and Wood went on to join the Rolling Stones. Rod Stewart? I think he did OK.

“Stay With Me” was featured on their 1971 album A Nod is as Good as a Wink… To a Blind Horse and has been considered the group’s breakthrough single.
